Quick house update

This house is going to be the death of me!! I think whats so frustrating is that we are SO close to being done and yet it just doesn't seem to be reaching a final point.

baby update: week 16

How Far Along: today I'm 16w 6 days

Size of Baby: Baby is approximately 11.5 cm long and is about 100g. H/she is about the size of an avocado :)

Picture of Baby: I soooooo wish we had more pictures! I'm hoping at the next scan we'll get some really good ones! we also need to look into having a 4d scan...

Maternity Clothes: I need some new clothes! Normal pants are beyond my waistline, unless they have an elastic waistband. I saw some cute none preggo stuff that could work (in a bigger size than I normally wear) but haven't yet bit the bullet to go get something.

Belly: When people start commenting on how big you are in relation to how far along you are you begin to see how much you've actually grown. I went to a pregnancy education event last Saturday and there was a girl about a week behind me who wasn't showing at all !! the human body is a strange and wonderful thing

Apologies again for the blurry cell phone shot

Sleep: oh man have I been sleeping!! can't keep myself awake past 9:30 pm unless i have an afternoon nap!

Best Moment of the Week:  Pregnancy education day that i mentioned above... it was great to get some information but it made this whole experience very real. Also having my parents here has been wonderful :) my Mom's gone into Granny mode and our little ones been very spoiled :)

Movement: nope/nothing/nada... move baby move ;)

Symptoms: sore back , growing tummy, is paranoia a symptom?

Food Cravings: cheese curls!
What I Miss: ummm, I would say range of movement without pain... I know this will get worse before it gets better but I still forget I have to make allowances for my changing shape and sometimes will try do something to quickly and it will hurt

What I'm Looking Forward to: hopefully reaching a point where we can start moving things into the house! I can't wait to see everything start coming together!

Milestones: passed the 4 month mark!!

Baby update 15 weeks

How Far Along: today I'm 15w 6 days

Size of Baby: Baby is approximately 10.1 cm long and is about 70g. H/she is about the size of an apple :)

Picture of Baby: Although we got a surprise scan this week unfortunately there were no pictures. Scans are amazing!! the amount of detail you can see is unbelievable! I always used to think they were kind of fuzzy and unclear but during this last one we could see tiny little leg bones and toes, even things like the beginning of the brain and an eye socket are visable. Baby Sprinkle looked like s/he was chilling on the beach with his hand tucked up under his/her head! too cute!!

Maternity Clothes: This last week i had to sort through my clothes as most of my stuff doesn't fit anymore.Still in between( some of my bigger pants etc still fit) but the maternity stuff is handsdown more comfortable to wear!

Belly: When I look at photo's it doesn't seem to be bigger but when I look down it feels huge!! Its starting to move from pudge to an actual little baby bump. I can tell the difference cos when it was just pudgy I could suck it in but now I can't make it go away even if I try very hard ;)

Apologies for the blurry cell phone shot

Sleep: So far so good! the heat has returned with a vengance which is uncomfortable but I sleep trough most of the night.. have started waking up around 4:30 to go to the bathroom which is annoying cos then i just fall back asleep and my alram goes off...

Best Moment of the Week:  Hands down the Doctors appointment! we got to hear and see Baby again which was amazing! He's also so patient and explains everything which is so nice. Now we have to wait another 4 weeks before another visit and a referral for anatomy scan to confirm gender :D

Movement: I'm pretty sure I felt something once! A  little flip flop inside my stomach! but it was just once and nothing since so we'll wait and see :) hopefully in the next few weeks it will become more obvious

Symptoms: sore back , growing tummy, still nauseous on and off but thankfully no throwing up, food sensitivity!!

Food Cravings: Not really crazing stuff... I picked up a lot of weight in the first couple weeks of being pregnant so I've been trying to eat healthily to balance it out! seems to be working since i haven't gained anymore since my last doctors appointment
What I Miss: ummm

What I'm Looking Forward to: My parents arrive this weekend!! whoop whoop! haven't seen them in almost 6 months so I can't wait!!!

Milestones: 25 weeks to go!!

Emotions: I'm doing ok :) calmed down again since seeing everything going so well! give me two weeks and I'll be paranoid again ;)

Deadline Schmedline

So the deadline for completing the house is tomorrow... or should I say was supposed to be tomorrow... We're still a long way from move in ready, considering all of our bathroom fittings look like this
Not really in the right place hey :)
Nevertheless the progress has been dramatic. The tiling is 97% completed (and will hopefully be done by the end of business today. Second coats of paint are going on. Bedroom cupboards are in and kitchen ones will arrive tomorrow. The back patio has been cast and assuming the last load of bricks arrive today the Braai will be built in too. Interior doors are also going in. Plugs and fittings are also meant to be going in today and we will hopefully have electricity by tomorrow at the latest!
Still no sign of exterior doors and windows hence the no moving in ! If we lived in a safer world I'd be tempted to move anyway but the risk of some-one 'privitising' our belonging is too great. Keep praying this all comes together soon!! if not by our deadline (which I doubt) by sometime next week!!

Baby update: 14 weeks

How Far Along: today I'm 14 w 6 days

Size of Baby: Baby Sprinkle is approximately 8.7 cm long from crown to rump and weighs around 43g.According to some sources s/he is comparable in size to a lemon

Picture of Baby: no Ultrasound this week but I thought the picture below was an awesome way to visualise the baby/lemon comparison

Maternity Clothes: I'm still in between normal and maternity clothes at the moment. What is the most surprising is where 'normal' clothes stop fitting. I kind of expected it around the stomach/waist/chest area but even my shoulders seem not to be the same size anymore! weird!

Sleep: its kind of hit or miss at the moment. I'm definitely waking up more than I used to but now that the heat has calmed down a smudge I'm sleeping much better.

Best Moment of the Week:  hubby coming home from a business trip :)

Movement: Still nothing !

Symptoms: All of my symptoms (except for some stretching pains and a growing stomach) seem to have disappeared! which is slightly worrying for paranoid me :) BUT on the bright side I know there is someone in there and I keep telling myself no symptoms is fine as long as there are no bad symptoms (blood/pain) happening... tmi? my bad

Food Cravings: I'm still eating lots of cheese but it seems to be slowing down. Can't say I've had any major cravings but i am enjoying food a WHOLE lot more now that I'm not nauseous all the time :)

What I Miss: most of my wardrobe :) I can't find much that fits anymore :(

What I'm Looking Forward to: A doctors appointment next week! Hopefully he'll send do a scan or at least let us hear the heartbeat again with the Doppler!

Milestones: baby can make all sorts of facial movements now and might even be able to suck their thumb.

Emotions: feeling OK , am definitely more emotional than usual but don't feel quite as volatile (unless you count my mental breakdown in the Wimpy the other day! sorry babe!)

pretty painted houses

Most people who read this are friends with me on Facebook and will have already seen this but for those that aren't our house got it's first coat of paint and it's looking FANTASTIC (if I do say so myself )
I was a bit worried about the green (as it's quite 'bold' to quote my mother) , but the more I see it the more I love it :)
The inside of the house is sporting a more neutral colour palette but looks fantastic too! Its so nice to see all your plans come together . I'm also relieved that the shades we picked mesh well together and look great on the wall!
Two Weeks to D-day !
Hold thumbs.

Baby update ... week 13

With us being so far away from many friends and Family I'm going to try and document things so that those who are interested can follow along :)
How Far Along: Today 13w 6 days

Size of Baby: +/- 6.7 cm ... Baby is about the size of a peach or a Medium shrimp

Picture of Baby:
Here's a 'full body shot' from our Scan last week...

Maternity Clothes: I was blessed to have been given some by some friends/family and I am making full use of them. I've reached the point that even though I can button up most of my pants and stand in them , sitting cuts off the blood circulation to my lower extremities :) Plus they comfy! I'm Wearing a lot of dresses as well as I only have a couple of pants that are still 'work approporaite' but I'm sure I'll figure out the further we get along
Belly: there's not much to show there although there are very definite beginnings of a bump. At the moment its still in that weird bloat/bump between stage ...

Sleep: I'm not sleeping very well at all. Not sure if it can be blamed on being pregnant or just this unbearable heat we've been suffering through. I am finding it hard to get comfortable as I usually sleep om my stomach and that's not working so well anymore... we'll see how its goes :)

Best Moment of the Week: Not getting sick!!! I've made it through the whole week without getting sick once (touch wood).

Movement: Baby was very busy during last weeks scan so I know s/he's bouncing around in there but i haven't felt anything yet

Symptoms: Umm I seem to have had all the classic symptoms. Nausea/throwing up, round ligament pain as things stretch , growing bigger... I'll take them as long as we get a healthy little one out of the deal :)

Food Cravings:  CHEESE!!! oh my word I feel like a mouse! I just can't get enough
Gender: Not sure yet
What I Miss:Sushi... aah man I want some sushi

What I'm Looking Forward to: hearing a heartbeat again. I'm slightly paranoid and it reassures me for about a week after we go to the Doctor that all is still well. I'm sure once Baby starts moving that will help to but until then heartbeats are awesome:)

Milestones: Officially in the second Trimester :)

Emotions: all over the place ! I can't watch half the shows I like on TV cos I end up bawling !
