Long overdue move in update

It feels like the blog has become nothing but Baby and Puppies lately ... In truth there has been so much going on its hard to process it all and the previous topics follow a fairly predictable pattern so I know what I need to say and when it needs to be said. Regardless many people have asked about our new home and how we are in enjoying it. It is still very much 'in progress' but certain area's are ready to be shown off.

Here it is on 'Moving day

We have now settled on a layout that works although our furniture looked minute in the big space. I also think we need a bigger rug under the table to ground the area more but we were working with what we had. This is a shot from the lounge side looking towards the front door. Passage to rooms/bathrooms is on the left.

View from the passage of the lounge/dining room/kitchen
(for some reason the pillow on the couch looks pink... its actually red)

View from the front door towards the back. Please excuse the crazy puppies photo bombing (see if you can spot them ).
I still think this side of the room needs some art or something but like I said work in progress

this is the passage with my Family Mirror I made. This is one of my favourite spots in the house :)

hopefully things will settle more into a routine now and I'll be able to think of some more varied topics to blog about , but if not I hope you like baby's and puppy's cos  I have a lot of information on those to share too.

Deadline Schmedline

So the deadline for completing the house is tomorrow... or should I say was supposed to be tomorrow... We're still a long way from move in ready, considering all of our bathroom fittings look like this

Not really in the right place hey :)

Nevertheless the progress has been dramatic. The tiling is 97% completed (and will hopefully be done by the end of business today. Second coats of paint are going on. Bedroom cupboards are in and kitchen ones will arrive tomorrow. The back patio has been cast and assuming the last load of bricks arrive today the Braai will be built in too. Interior doors are also going in. Plugs and fittings are also meant to be going in today and we will hopefully have electricity by tomorrow at the latest!

Still no sign of exterior doors and windows hence the no moving in ! If we lived in a safer world I'd be tempted to move anyway but the risk of some-one 'privitising' our belonging is too great. Keep praying this all comes together soon!! if not by our deadline (which I doubt) by sometime next week!!

100 posts

I've been mentally rewriting this post in my head for the last week and I really hesitated publishing it ,which is completely ridiculous! It's my 100th post on my little space of the Internet and somehow it felt like it should be profound and amazing and yet all I have are update on how life is going... thats profound and amazing right ;) Anyway! I've enjoyed this little blog so much over the year and a bit I've been able to be here and learned SO much about the background of a website (still not an expert but I try). It's a creative outlet and a way to keep family and friends up to date with what we were up to and I love that. I've also met so many new virtual 'friends' and I'm glad you joined in for the ride:) Here's hoping there's lots more blogging fun and projects to be had!!

So moving away from the sappiness here's some updates:)

I wrapped all our Christmas presents over the weekend (we went shopping last week as it was W's weekend off and we wanted to try and get a head start on Christmas as we're both working right through this year)

I'm feeling super proud to be so organised (believe me it doesn't happen often) and it almost makes up for the fact that I couldn't find the gift's I'd been stocking up on through the year which are in a box .... somewhere.... all the gifts are now sitting pretty under the Christmas tree which we put up yesterday (and I forgot to take a picture of )

Secondly I've been on the look out for thing's for the new house to dress it up a bit. I found these amazing paper place mats from Ishish designs at our local arts and crafts shop, Jenny's place. unfortunately it looks like IshIsh only sells to retailers so you won't be able to get their stuff off their website but the designs are great! (the also had some beautiful Christmas ones!!)
I'm planning on framing them for the HUGE wall in our dining-room/lounge

Lastly remember a while back when I got the broken mirror's I said I wanted to try my hand at some mosaic? I finally got my act together and bought the supplies I needed :)
I still haven't done the grout(and to honest I have no idea how to do that!) but it was a quick and easy project which looks like a million bucks!
Here's a sneak peak:)

So that's pretty much what's going on!
The house is looking amazing but I forgot to take photo's (bad blogger!). They've put the roof trusses up on the sides (IE over the bedrooms/kitchen/garage) and are still waiting for the ones for the *HUGE* living/dining section. Its looking amazing but we really didn't realise it would be so tall ! today they hoping to get the roof sheets on (hold thumbs !) and hopeful start finishing up the boundary wall between us and the neighbour.

Things I'm learning

Its been a rough few weeks full of learning opportunities . I thought I'd share some :)
1)My husband is awesome ( I always knew that but I wanted everyone else to know it too)
2) No matter how old you are when things go wrong you still need your parents
3) The size on the tag of the clothes doesn't matter its how you feel in them that counts!  (anyone else battling to find to find things that fit? If the fashion industry out there is listening taller people need clothes too!)
4) When moving house in a hurry don't leave everything to the last minute and throw things into boxes without labels... especially if you will not be unpacking those boxes for a while!! it makes finding things hard!

5) life doesn't go according to plan ! but God knows!!

Fish are friends, Not food

Hi Friends

I hope you have been enjoying the Guest Guru Posts from the last few weeks! I've been wanting to write something here for a while now but my inspiration has been running low and life has run away from us with its craziness!

This past weekend we packed up our little home and moved lock stock and barrel into W's Parents place in preparation for building... our life now looks like this

We're going to get the last bits and pieces tonight and then are starting the big clean up to get the place ready for the new owners... it was quite sad to move out actually and we were both feeling a bit sentimental about it but we're definitely looking forward to the new place (even if it means living in chaos for the next few months)

On Sunday, we did what any sane person does in the middle of moving house and went a bought some fish.... Why I can hear you asking , because we can is the only answer I can really give you :)
I some-how got a bee in my bonnet about it ,I blame Pinterest .... you can follow me here

I  saw this :

and then decided I wanted some fish. My dear sweet husband allows me my randomness and we went on the search:)

we came home with this

meet Ben and Jerry (you know like the ice cream..... don't judge it just fit;) )

I have no idea why the water looks so murky but they are happily living in their new home on our chest of drawers:)

I haven't forgotten about guest guru this week! you'll have to come back and see who we've got lined up later in the week!
