oops I did it again!!

I forgot again!!!! oh my !! in my defense we spent most of yesterday getting our paving done so I was slightly sidetracked:)

onto the challenge :)

Day 19 - Another picture of yourself.

(BTW its really hard to find picture of just me! there always other people in the pictures )

Day 20 - The meaning behind your blog name.

I started this Blog as an outlet for all the random thoughts and things that happen in my life. Hence the Random Ramblings, as this is the place where I ramble on about all the random things that are in my head :) ( that and the original names that I had thought up were all already taken by other people on blogger and it wouldn't let me choose the same name for obvious reasons :) and no i can't remember what they were !)

Day 16: Famous Schmamous

Day 16 - Your celebrity crush.

Umm ja so this day might be a challenge to post about. I'm not really the kind of person that has a celebrity crush. There are actors I like but I wouldn't say I have a crush on them ...

If I had to choose (and for the sake of having a post today I will) I will choose Scott Foley...

I used to have a crush on him when he played in Felicity (yes waaaaaay back when ) and just recently he cropped up in Grays anatomy which bought him back into my rader :)
not to bad hey :)

Tuesday 22 November 2011

halfway there :)

Day 15 - Something you don't leave the house without.

there are two things I rarely leave the house without :)

My sunglasses don't look like this but I never leave without mine (except when its dark ;) )

Predictable I know but my Blackberry goes where i do. I am by no means addicted to it but it's awesome cos it can do so much ! i can read blog's ,check email, take pictures, listen to music, chat to people, use the GPS , the list continues.

A bonus Post with a Christmas craft :)

As I have mentioned here and here I love Christmas. This year is the first time I've had my own home and am going to be in it for Christmas, Plus We're having guests . With all this in mind I have been trying to create Decorations on a very limited budget. I thought I'd share one of these projects with you :)

Before we continue I must warn you that the title of this poswas almost ' Emma does crafts in her PJ's' so I apologize in advance for the many shots that seem to have my wonderful pink striped pj's in them!

I made an advent Calender. I cannot claim this idea as my on as I saw it on another blog (although I can't remember which one to link it too , so if I stole your idea I apologize)

this was a very cheap project and came out quite well (in my opinion) plus it can be reused year after year !

You will need:
a Frame (with the glass removed)
wrapping paper (of your choice)
a peg
Paint
Sellotape
Double sided tape (the thin kind /or you could use glue)
Christmas printouts
scissors
Paper Punch
ribbon
envelope

I started off by cutting out my number cards. I made these by Google-ing Christmas pictures and putting numbers in them (1-25). I use a program called Photo-scape which is a fantastic free Photo-editing tool that you can download by clicking here. Its pretty self explanatory but I use the editor tab and add text to the pictures. I saved them as J-peg files and printed them onto one paper using MSWord (just insert picture and make them the size you want them to be )
(sorry for the blurry picture!)

I then took the glass out of my frame and wrapped the back like you would a present.

When I was done I put it back in the frame.

Next up I painted my Peg ( you could skip that if your peg is the color you wanted) and stuck it in my wrapped frame. I used the double sided tape for this but glue would work just as well!

the white patch you see was covering for the tape. The tape is clear so I left it on like that to show where to put it

take one of your pre-cut number cards and attach it to your peg!
and voila you have an advent Calender :)

To keep all the cards together I took an Envelope and punched a hole in it

I attached a little bit of ribbon to the envelope, put the extra cards inside and hung it on the picture hanging attachment on the back of my frame:

So there are some (hopefully) simple instructions on how to make an advent calender :) I thought it was pretty awesome , My husband disagreed and said it needed chocolate! So to make it fair we got some mini Christmas chocolates to go with it :) Hope it helps!! Sorry for the terrible pictures ! I was using my phone (I really need to charge the camera batteries!!) I'm thinking i might spray paint the frame a different color and add the words "days to Christmas" to the bottom of the frame. Any thoughts?

p.s. If you make one for yourself I'd love to see it :)

I'm linking up with:

Day 14- the tv Edition

Day 14 - A TV show you're currently addicted to.

I have two :)

I love the clever humour (even though its quite dark sometimes) of the Mentalist :) We watch it twice a week (two seasons at a time; cos we're cool like that ) and its awesome!

Grey's has to be my all time Favorite( yes I know its dodgy but I love it anyway). The season we've been watching (season 7, I know I'm behind but I no longer have the luxury of a Res Network to get stuff from) just ended on a real cliff hanger so if anyone wants to send through some season 8 I'd love you forever!!

Day 13 :)

Day 13 - Your favorite musician and why?

My favourite Musician would have to be Micheal Buble. As for the reason why... the man sings blues/jazz and look at him !! He has fantastic stage presence and a beautiful voice :)

Day 11: better late than never:)

Day 11 - What's in your makeup bag.

I am not a make up person really so this is whats in my bag: base, face powder, eye shadow(which I hardly wear) lip gloss, Mascara,eye-liner, Tweezers and a face primer.Quick, simple and fits in my hand bag :)
Can't go wrong with that :)

Day 9- Shopping fun :)

Day 9 - A photo of the item you last purchased.

My favorite topic :) Shopping!!!
well as I mentioned in my previous post here I love Christmas. So most of my shopping trips lately have revolved around that point (apart from the essential stuff like food). Plus I've been looking for inexpensive ways to decorate for the upcoming Christmas season. So yesterday I got a bee in my bonnet about making a Christmas Wreath because I refuse to pay R60+ for something I could make myself for much less ( on that point anybody know where i can get wreath shapes? just the round part made out of reeds/foam/wire?). I found an idea to use tinsel and a cardboard wreath shape and went to the shops  after work for supplies ( i.e. tinsel and decorations).

While I was there I went into PEP who surprisingly sells Christmas decorations cheaply that don't look to bad, and seeing as I was paying by card and swiping for R9.99 is a waste of bank fees decided to have a look around I found this:

Now most of you are probably thinking what the heck is that. Let me explain. We have a small toilet/shower combo that serves as our 'master bathroom' for lack of a better term. due to the tiny nature of this space and the need for it to have a sliding door we have no towel rails in our bathroom. When we first moved in we improvised with an over the door hook I had from varsity days but it was by no means pretty and was kinda big

So for R24.99 ( which I thought was pretty good considering its a decent size and made from metal) our towels got a new home :)

Pretty Snazzy hey? so that was the last thing I purchased :) and BTW the wreath turned out pretty cool too :) planning on making another one so will take pictures and show them off soon!!

Day 8- musical musings

Day 8 - A song to match your mood

I feel the song needs some explanation. I'm not having a particularly bad day/life but today i'm struggling with some grown up decisions that i wish i wouldn't have to make. Hence the feeling of a 'hard knock life'. Prayers are appreciated for wisdom !!
Love you all and enjoy

Day 7 - Wedding reflections

Day 7 - Your dream wedding.

Seeing as I'm already married posting about my dream wedding is kind of a moot point. I had my dream wedding (for the most part) so i'll share some pics and then explain what I would have changed and why :)

Before we got engaged I really wanted a Pale yellow/blue/pink wedding in a garden somewhere ( this after my friend got married and used the Burgandy and other elements I was totally in love with :) yes Sarah Creed I mean you ;) ). But after finding my dress, which turned out to be ivory, the pale yellow vision didn't quite fit anymore. Which is how we ended up with Cream and Gold.

My biggest requirement was I wanted an Old church with a center Aisle. After checking out lots(and I mean lots) of options we found the perfect church in the middle of Downtown Pretoria of all places

My folks were wonderful!

as was our awesome Bridal party

and all in all it was a wonderful day!!

The only things i would have possibly changed was to have had an outside reception (but considering it pored with rain on our day I'm glad we didn't take the risk)
